Tiger Tale Journal -- Cat Thoughts on Life, Religion and Politics

The greater part of what my neighbors call good, I believe in my soul to be bad, and if I repent of anything, it is very likely to be my good behavior. What demon possessed me that I behaved so well? --Henry Thoreau

So......is Religion a Warm Towel?

So..........IS religion simply for comfort?

And, is a Sunday nap under a warm towel fresh from the dryer--just as good?

Is staying home from church the smart thing to do? The cat below thinks so.

Perhaps the cat knows that religion and spiritual matters are not about elaborate buildings and ceremony. Cats do not have a concept of the divine defined dwelling.

Defined, divine dwellings dissappoint.
Dogma and devotion, devoid of despairing
Do little.

Perhaps?

Nice alliteration, though!

Well the cat knows more than me.
I'm spiritually ambiguous.
I find conversing with a cat strangely enjoyable.
What does the cat have to say about cats and the GNP of America? Whats their market share?

Wow, Lily!!! Slow down.

Commentary about the fact that acquiring stuff and money is the alpha religion in America will just have to wait (although it's a fascinating topic).

This cat is just starting to work on a post about the incredible problems humans have being stuck in bad relationships. That could take us a while. We're mulling and purring.

Why must cats return to the interpersonal sphere? Cats are all about breeding. There's a wide open world out there full of desperation. Can the cat not shelve the Dr. Phil stuff and instead, talk about who will perish first when the world busts: humans or felines?

Interesting.

Which is more important?

Global or personal?

People watch Dr. Phil so they can concentrate on the problems of others rather than dealing with their own problems (and so they can feel better about themselves and pity the poor bastards on t.v.).

Cats don't watch Dr. Phil.

You humans haven't solved the global problems because you fail to deal with the personal.....and the personal problems almost invariably have their roots in unresolved spiritual problems, don't they?

Yes.Good kitty.
I have often said that if we can figure out why mothers are not responsive to world events even in the face of such selfless love, we might begin to understand the mechanations of apathy in general. What keeps them silent?
I'm not putting the burden of outrage squarely on the shoulders of women. I mean it would help us to look at this.
I also agree that our relationships on a micro-level reflect much on the macro. Even as part of our peace and activist circles, we try to include this 'personal is political' thinking. Primarily this is through non-violent communication training (ie Marshall Rosenberg) that seeks to reframe our interactions into needs-based exchanges.

And I dont watch Dr Phil either. I believe you are correct but also think thta people have a tendency to bemoan their own problems to their detriment. For some, senseless self reflection with little transformation is a hobby.
Whats the sense? But people are ungratefully 'problem oriented', then throw in a voyeuristic culture... blogging is like this too. Evolution graced us with a love for surveillance. OK Now I am back to politics...
